Founded in 1997, Jefferson’s is the brainchild of Trey Zoeller and his father, Chet, a famed bourbon historian. Together, they continued a family whiskey tradition going back to Trey’s 8th-generation grandmother who was arrested in 1799 for the “production and sales of spirituous liquors.”  

In the spirit of curiosity and experimentation, Trey continues to push the boundaries of bourbon, upholding tradition while discovering new possibilities.

While some of our expressions, like Jefferson’s Ocean and Jefferson’s Tropics, are finished in different places to help create their unique flavor profile, many Jefferson’s Bourbon products are made in our Kentucky Artisan Distillery.

Jefferson’s is made from a blend of tradition and passion.

For our signature blends (like Jefferson’s Bourbon and Jefferson’s Reserve) we take our carefully crafted bourbons and finish them in innovative ways. For our cutting-edge creations like Tropics and Ocean, we start with fully mature Kentucky Bourbon and finish it by exposing it to extreme environments like the bow of a ship and the intense humidity of the tropics.  

Every expression has its own unique flavors and character. For example, Jefferson’s Tropics Aged in Humidity^TM has a nose of aromatic baking spices like cinnamon and clove; flavor notes of Bing cherry, toffee, and sea salt; and a finish that’s long, textured, and full-bodied.
